Our story

TYLER THRAP

Tyler passion for nature and the land dates back to his childhood, where some of his earliest memories are of building fences and branding cattle on his family’s ranch. This deep connection to the land led him to study agriculture, sparking a lifelong interest in equipment, land management, and working with his hands.

After college, Tyler worked as a house framer for a local contractor, but it wasn’t long before he found his true calling: running equipment, reading plans, and solving the challenges of underground utilities. For five years, he led an out-of-town crew in the city, but his heart was always with family, small-town projects, and staying close to his roots.

With a clear goal in mind, Tyler earned both his general engineering and general building contractor licenses, setting the stage for the next chapter. After countless brainstorming sessions, idea boards, and long-term planning, Thrap & Company was born a business built on integrity, and a love for the land.

KIRSTEN THRAP

Kirsten passion for interior design began at the age of seven, inspired by watching Trading Spaces and dreaming of being like Genevieve Gorder. From constantly rearranging her bedroom to diving into crafts, her creativity and love for design blossomed early.

Kirsten nurtured this passion through her education, studying residential interior design and real estate. While interning with local real estate companies during college, she gained valuable hands-on experience, attending open houses throughout Sonoma and Napa Valley an opportunity that deepened her appreciation for thoughtful home design.

Her journey brought her back to Humboldt County, where she spent nearly eight years with a construction company and developer. During that time, Kirsten grew as both a designer and project manager, leading the design and execution of projects ranging from small kitchen remodels to custom homes and large-scale multifamily developments. She also played a key role in the remodel of historic homes in the town of Samoa. This diverse experience fueled her passion for creating functional, beautiful spaces that support growing families.

While working in a corporate setting was rewarding, Kirsten’s true passion lies in designing and furnishing homes in ways that feel deeply personal to each client. Today, she is dedicated to helping people create spaces where they can thrive all while being a present, hands-on mom to her two daughters.

OUR DAUGHTERS

At the heart of Thrap & Company are our two beautiful daughters. Without them, this journey wouldn’t have been possible. They are our inspiration, our motivation, and the reason we stepped back from our fast-paced lives to focus on what truly matters: family and values.

Our sweet and creative oldest, is a determined spirit with a deep love for life and family. At just seven years old, she has an entrepreneurial heart constantly crafting, creating, and selling her handmade goods. While chickens aren’t her favorite, she takes great joy in packaging and selling their eggs, always eager to contribute.

Then there’s our youngest, our little nurturer. Her love runs deepest for her animals, and while the eggs don’t hold her attention, the chickens certainly do. She is the glue that holds our family together, and it was her unwavering love for her daddy that ultimately brought him back home to us.

Our daughters are the driving force behind Thrap & Company. From the start, we knew we wanted to build something that would support whatever passions they choose to pursue in life. Our goal is to create a foundation that allows them and future generations to chase their dreams to the fullest.
